JAY OWEN

MANAGING PARTNER | DOM CAPITAL GROUP

Jay is the managing partner of DOM Capital Group, the family office he and his brother Tony Owen founded in Chicago in 2008. He oversees the firm’s investment strategy, directing capital across multiple asset classes including private equity, venture capital, real estate, traditional equities, and fixed income. His focus areas span retail, food, consumer brands, the travel industry, and real estate, reflecting both market opportunity and his deep personal connection to the food sector.

Jay serves on the board of Frontera’s Tortazo concept, where he contributes strategic guidance to the brand’s growth and development. His passion for the business world was shaped early by his grandfather, Dominick DiMatteo, Jr., founder of the Dominick’s supermarket chain.

Jay holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications, with honors, from Northwestern University, and an MBA with concentrations in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

TONY OWEN

FOUNDING PARTNER, DOM FOOD GROUP

Tony is a founding partner at DOM Food Group (DFG).  DFG, founded in 2020 in Los Angeles, is a venture studio made up of experienced entrepreneurs, operators, and investors focused on disrupting the food industry and aiming to create top tier, future-proof food businesses with a focus on quality, operational excellence, and a digital-first approach.  The DFG portfolio includes Goop Kitchen, Cravings by Chrissy Tiegen, Neighborly curated food halls, Mixtape by Questlove, The Sausage Project, and others concepts still under development. Tony grew up in the business world as the grandson of iconic grocery entrepreneur Dominick DiMatteo, Jr (founder of Dominick’s supermarket chain) from whom he developed his love for the food business. 

Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
